FAQ's

I am allergic to roses.  Will I get a reaction from your potpourri?

Yes, please be aware that only natural flowers, herbs and essential oils, which is the essence of the flowers, herbs or spices, are used in my potpourri.  If you are allergic to an ingredient, please do not use.

My potpourri seems to be getting weaker, what can I do?

As the potpourri is left open to air,  the volatile oils are evaporating.  This is what is fragrancing your room, closets or bureaus.  It is traditional to keep potpourri in a covered jar or bowl, to be opened when you enter the roomand closed when you leave.  If , like many of us, you prefer to leave the potpourri open all the time, the fragrance will most definitely weaken.  Give it a stir and squeeze it with your hands once of twice.  This will bruise the floral matter and release more fragrant oils.  If, after several months, this is no longer effective it can be refreshed with fragrant essential oils.  Put the potpourri into a glass jar with a lid, add the essential oils (these are very strong, use sparingly, 3-5 drops per quart of potpourri), cover and keep in a cool, dark place.  When you first add the oils, the potpourri will have a very raw smell, this will mellow with aging.  This is why the Patricia Rose Potpourri is aged six weeks before sale, the fragrance needs to develop.  Shake the mixture every couple of days.  After 2 weeks potpurri should be strong smelling and ready to put in your decorative container again.
